pomodori.app should call much more attention to itself when a session is done

Reported by tlalox | June 8th, 2009 @ 07:39 AM

I'm working with an application called isolator ( http://willmore.eu/software/isolator ) so pomodori.app is in my background and I cannot see it (also my sound is turned off usually). After a pomodori session is over your application does not communicate this to the user in an efficient visual way.
Proposal: open the dashbord with the message: "Pomodori is over, take a break!"

    • Tag set to alert, feature, flashing, ring
    • State changed from “new” to “open”

Proposal accepted, added to the pipeline. Thanks.

I think this would ideally be done via Growl. Focus-stealing (such as popping up the dashboard) might be a little too obtrusive.

I am willing to get familiar with the codebase of this project and Growl and submit a patch for this if there's interest.

Sure there is interest (and thanks for offering your help). But I suggest you to hold until I commit the rewrite to port Pomodori to MacRuby 0.5 (and Snow Leopard). I tried to just fix what wasn't working after the upgrade to 10.6 but there are too many (and subtle) things not working. Since many of those things are related to HotCocoa I decided to drop it and use InterfaceBuilder instead. It will take a while, but it should also be also easier to make changes in the future. In the meanwhile if you want, some experiments to show Growl messages from MacRuby (0.5) would be nice. I can wire up that part when the rest is done. Contact me by email (reborg at reborg dot net) to discuss the details. Thanks again and keep looking :)
